Don't regret going cheap on your car insurance. You WILL regret it.

Progressive Insurance Company has spent millions of dollars on their ad campaign in which they tell you that you can “name your own price” when you buy car insurance from them. While this claim is essentially true, what they don’t tell you is that while you may pay less when buying insurance from them, you are also receiving less coverage from them. And in the realm of auto insurance, that is a very bad idea. Trust me, as a New York accident and injury lawyer, I know. I see it firsthand every day.
Simply stated, when you are buying car insurance you are buying: 1. protection from claims by others against you if you screw up and cause the accident (liability insurance), and 2. protection for you and your family if the other guy causes the accident but doesn’t have any insurance/enough insurance to adequately compensate you and your family for their injuries (SUM insurance).
Ask yourself “Do I really want to risk losing my home and all I have worked for in a lawsuit because I went cheap to save $100 per year on my liability policy?” Better yet, “Do I really want to risk being horrifically injured by an uninsured driver because I went cheap to save $100 per year on SUM insurance?” Of course you don’t.
The maxim “you get what you pay for” might have been invented for the auto insurance business. So instead of “naming your own price”, “name your own coverage.” And if you live in Livingston or Monroe counties or the surrounding area and need help figuring out what insurance coverage you presently have (or need), call me up and I will review your insurance coverage with you for free. It’s that important.
